The pin-up girl. The name painted in script. The Flying Fortress that became the most famous World War II bomber.
The Memphis Belle
Captain Bob Morgan named her after his girlfriend back home, Margaret Polk from Memphis, Tennessee. The Memphis Belle's iconic art, painted by Corporal Tony Starcer, became one of the most recognizable images of the war: a beautiful woman in a bathing suit, waving from the side of a bomber headed into hell. It wasn't just aviation art. It was a reminder of what they were fighting to get back to.
And the odds?
Brutal. Many bomber crews didn't make it past five missions. But Morgan and his crew had a goal: 25. That was their magic number, the finish line that meant they could go home.
In May of '43, the Memphis Belle completed her 25th mission. She came home. So did her crew. They became legends, sent back to the States to sell war bonds and show America that survival was possible.
The Memphis Belle aircraft itself is now at the National Museum of the United States Air Force at Wright-Patterson AFB, fully restored after years of painstaking work. You can see her there, preserved as she was, a testament to the airmen who flew into flak and fighters and somehow made it back.
This decanter captures that legacy. Made of aircraft skin-type metal, it's hand-formed and hand-riveted using traditional aviation manufacturing techniques.
Designed in collaboration with Cockpit Creations, every rivet, every line, every contour is built with the same precision that kept the Belle in the air. It stands as aviation memorabilia in its purest form, a collectible decanter intended for those who value history, craftsmanship, and meaningful aviation gifts.
Pick one up and pick it up. If you've ever worked on a plane, you'll feel it.
As av geeks, we know the Belle's story deserves a hell of a lot more than a museum placard. It deserves to be poured from, talked about, and passed down.
Whether chosen as a gift for a veteran, a WWII aviation gift, or a unique military gift meant to be kept in your family for generations, this decanter carries the weight of a story that earned its place in history.
That's on you now.
