Lt. Col. Harry T. Stewart Jr. flew 43 combat missions over Europe in a P-51D Mustang, the aircraft flown by the Tuskegee Airmen in World War II.
On one mission, he shot down three enemy aircraft in a single day, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He was one of the Tuskegee Airmen, the first Black military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Forces, men who fought two wars: one against the Axis, and one for the right to fight at all.
This is his aircraft. Little Coquette.
